FALL COLOURS IN THE TOWNSHIPS
(October 16, 2002)

Matthew Farfan

A view near Fitch Bay. (Photo: Matthew Farfan)Few places in Canada can boast as beautiful an array of colour as do the Eastern Townships during the fall. The region, already blessed with some of the most magnificent scenery around, has an abundance of sugar maples and other hardwoods that blend to create a magnificent site as their leaves change colours at this time of year.

Oranges, yellows, greens, reds, and everything in between. What a sight! Tourists from all over come to the area just to enjoy the spectacle. They tour the back roads, stopping frequently to take pictures of backdrops that are nothing short of breathtaking. Some come with their bicycles, for there are many trails in the region. Others stay for a few days at a time at one or other of the region's many bed and breakfasts. Wild grapes. (Photo: Matthew Farfan)
Few leave the Townships disappointed. Many
return.
