Massawippi officially inaugurated its Tomifobia Nature Trail
this past weekend at a celebration at the start of the trail in
Ayer's Cliff. Organizers heaved a collective sigh of relief as they
raised a toast to the completion of this ten-year, often politically-charged
undertaking. On hand for the event were a number of local mayors
and councillors; newly elected Cabinet Minister Pierre Reid; and
guest of honour, former Orford Deputy Robert Benoit.
Benoit (left), who has been one of the trail's staunchest
supporters over the past decade, was praised by master of ceremonies
Keith Baxter for his constant backing of the controversial project.

Benoit, in turn, singled out Baxter and George Foster, two of the
hardest-working trail volunteers, and Ogden mayor Mike Sudlow, whose
own backing led to the recent completion of the corridor through
his municipality.
