The usual crowds were on hand this past weekend at the annual Canada Day celebrations in Hatley village.
Bright sun and blue skies definitely helped lift spirits as the parade wound its way down Main Street and around Hatley Common to tumultuous applause. Indeed, it seemed that many in the crowd were celebrating not only the country's 137th birthday but also the arrival of warm summer weather.
Billed as one of the biggest
Canada Day celebrations in the Townships, the Hatley festivities included the parade, displays by local artisans and vendors, a book sale, a noontime lunch, games for children of all ages, dog agility demonstrations, music performed by local entertainers, and a fireworks display in the evening.
