COATICOOK'S FESTIVAL DU LAIT
(July 22, 2003)

Matthew Farfan

This year marks Coaticook's 26th annual Festival du lait ("Milk Festival"). The region, with over 270 dairy farms generating $70 million in revenues, could well be called the dairy capital of the Eastern Townships. The Festival du lait is a celebration of this important industry.

The four-day event runs from July 31 through August 3, and promises to be an entertaining few days for the entire family. Activities include a parade, giant games for kids, tractor pulls, and judging events for cows and goats. There will also be music, a mechoui, exhibitions, artisans' booths, and of course, dairy products. Entry to the festival is $5.00, and free for children under three years old.

The Festival du lait takes place at the Ferme du Plateau, 125 Morgan Street, Coaticook. For more information, call (819) 849-6010, or click here.
