1.a) Shooting a constable sent to arrest him. Donald Morrison had lost the family farm following a business dispute, and apparently had been harassing the new owners. It was at this point that the constable was sent to arrest him. Morrison killed the man and went into hiding in the Megantic countryside. He was finally apprehended in 1889 after hiding for several months with the help of sympathetic Scottish farmers.

2. a) Prince Arthur, the third son of Queen Victoria. Arthur would later become Governor General of Canada.

3. c) Valcourt.

4. b) In 1908, Weir, a resident of Cedarville (in what is now the municipality of Ogden), wrote the English lyrics to "O Canada". The music was composed by Calixa Lavallée and the French lyrics by Adolphe-Basile Routhier, probably in 1880.

5. a) Antoine Racine, the first Catholic Bishop of the Diocese of Sherbrooke (1874-1893).

6. b) Two. Louis S. St-Laurent (born in Compton) and Wilfrid Laurier (lived in Arthabaska).

8. c) Frederick Temple Hamilton Blackwood, 1st Marquess of Dufferin and Ava. Dufferin toured the region in 1878, prompting several towns to rename streets after him: Sherbrooke, Stanstead, Granby. Dufferin Heights, now famous for its 18-hole golf course, was also named after the Governor General.
