The Association of Quebec’s Most Beautiful Villages (L’Association des plus beaux villages du Québec) has just released a new brochure. The glossy, full-colour fold-out pamphlet highlights each of the 32 member-villages of the association. It includes a short text for each village, with photos, a map of the province, and website addresses where visitors can find out more about the various villages. The brochure is available in English and French at provincial tourism outlets across Quebec.
A number of villages in the Eastern Townships, being members of the association, are featured in the brochure. These include: Frelighsburg, Knowlton (Lac-Brome), Stanstead, Marbleton, and Inverness.
The Association of Quebec’s Most Beautiful Villages is a not-for-profit organization that evaluates potential member-villages according to strict criteria. These include: local architectural heritage (both quality and quantity); natural landscapes, parks and green spaces; cultural and community activities; the presence of artisanal activities; the existence of museums, interpretation centres, galleries, and other exhibition sites; the presence of interpretive plaques and other installations; the existence of municipal policies in place to protect local heritage sites, and others.
