A brand new heritage tour of the town of Bedford has just been published by the Corporation de développement de Bedford et région . Titled Bedford: A Heritage Circuit of Churches, Houses and Businesses, the brochure is available in both English and French.
Illustrated with contemporary and antique photographs, including several supplied by the Missisquoi, the fold-out brochure features a reproduction of an 1881 bird’s-eye map of Bedford. The map includes most of the landmarks then in existence in the village. Points on the current tour are indicated on this map, though a number of the buildings shown are no longer standing.
Points on the heritage tour include the Saint James Anglican Church, built in 1832, the Cyr Building, and the Cornell-Kimmell House, to name just a few. To find out how to procure a copy of this tour, which will no doubt increase the appreciation of heritage sites around town, email: corpobedford@bellnet.ca.
