POTTON HERITAGE BROCHURES AND 2004 CALENDAR
(June 24, 2003)

Matthew Farfan

The prolific Potton Heritage Association has just published its 2004 calendar and ten new brochures in the series "Potton: Yours to Discover." Both the brochures and the calendar feature different aspects of Potton Township's heritage.

The brochures are a continuation of an earlier series of ten released by the Association last year and researched and written by Peter Downman and Gérard Leduc. The titles in this year's set are as follows: Potton Springs; Schools; Churches; Railways; Mountain House; Mills; Round Barns; Cairns; Owl's Head; and Indian Rock. Last year's titles were: Potton: Yours to Discover (French and English versions); Russian Monastery; Reilly House; Vorokhta; Knowlton's Landing; Dunkin; Highwater; Mansonville; and Vale Perkins. All twenty brochures are illustrated with reproductions of archival photographs and follow the same format, with three pages of English and three pages of French text printed recto-verso. The one exception is Potton: Yours to Discover, which contains six pages and which is available in separate French and English versions.

Interesting and easy to read, the brochures are available free of charge at the Reilly House Tourist Bureau, at 302 Principale Street, Mansonville.

The Association has also released a new heritage calendar. Available for $10 each at outlets around Mansonville, it is the work of Ralph Ridgway and Gérard Leduc, and features a different historic image for each month of the year.

Publication of the brochures and calendar was made possible thanks to grants from a number of sponsors, including the Townshippers' Foundation and the Township of Potton.
