QUEBEC SKETCHBOOK
(March 20, 2006)

Matthew Farfan

Shoreline Press of Montreal has just released Quebec Sketchbook, a new book by award-winning John Collins. Collins, who was for many years an editorial cartoonist for The Gazette, and who is also the author of Montreal Memories, has created in this latest book a visual tour of the province of Quebec. Through sketches and texts, Collins introduces the reader to some of the province’s many interesting urban and rural landscapes. Old Montreal, St. John’s Gate in Quebec City, the Gaspé coast, a scene in Charlevoix, and many more sketches make up this volume.

Collins includes a number of sketches of scenes in the Eastern Townships, including views in Vale Perkins, Brome County Fair, and covered bridges.

Quebec Sketchbook (2005) contains 81 pages and is available in soft-cover at bookstores, (retail price: $19.95) or direct from the publisher (shipping fees may apply). To contact the publisher direct, write: Shoreline Press, 23 Ste-Anne, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec H9X 1L1, call (514) 457-5733, or email shoreline@sympatico.ca.
