DATE FOUNDED:
1990
MISSION:
A volunteer heritage committee (comité du patrimoine)
was formed in 1990 following the centennial celebrations in the
parish of Sainte-Sabine. Several projects relating to local heritage
have since been undertaken, the most prominent of which has been
the restoration of the old one-room schoolhouse ("école
de rang") on Campbell Road, south of the village.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
The School-Museum: An earlier French Catholic schoolhouse
located on an adjacent property was transported to the location
of the present school in 1885. That school burned to the ground
in 1891. The current 1½ storey clapboard schoolhouse was
built shortly after that disastrous fire and served as a place of
learning until 1958, when a large central school was built in the
village. The old school was converted to a storage shed and fell
into disrepair. Since 1993, the building has been completely restored
and now serves as a small museum.
