DATE FOUNDED:
1993
MISSION:
To raise funds to preserve and restore the historic St. George's
Anglican Church and its adjacent cemetery. The church and grounds
are the property of the Greater Parish of St. Francis of Assisi,
and regular church services are held every second Sunday.

PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION:
1) St. George's Anglican Church, dating to 1855 (partially rebuilt
after a fire, 1864-1866). The church, built in the neo-Gothic style,
is made entirely of local fieldstone. The interior features wood
paneling and stained glass, the latter depicting scenes from local
and national history while at the same time respecting their religious
vocation.
2) St. George's Cemetery. Adjacent to the church, this charming
cemetery is a place of quiet reflection and contains many early
tombstones, including one bearing a Celtic cross (indicative of
the area's Irish heritage) and another made of slate and dating
to 1826. The cemetery also contains the grave of Major-General Frederick
George Heriot (1786-1843), the founder of Drummondville. The site
also features an interpretive plaque.
