MISSION:
To record, study, and promote the heritage of the Lennoxville-Ascot
area.
PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION:
The Society occupies the second floor of the Uplands Cultural and
Heritage Centre, a neo-Georgian home, built by the Paddon family
in the heart of Lennoxville in 1862. This includes: a permanent
exhibition room (a Victorian parlour); two temporary exhibition
halls focusing on local heritage themes; an archives room; office
space; and storage space for the collection. The Society also manages
the workshop in the Uplands Red Barn, located on the property.
COLLECTIONS:
Approximately 3000 objects, including an extensive collection of
clothing and other textile items, tools, toys, photographic equipment,
porcelain and silver artifacts, and works of art. The collection
also includes all of the period furniture found throughout the Uplands
Cultural and Heritage Centre. The focus of the collection (and of
exhibitions) is on items of local and regional historic interest.
The Archives feature material on the Lennoxville-Ascot area and
the Eastern Townships in general. They also include extensive genealogical
reference material.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
A monthly programme of activities with lectures and guest speakers.
Regular thematic exhibitions on the heritage of the Lennoxville-Ascot
area.

Various publications (please inquire for titles and prices).

June 24-Labour Day: Tuesday to Sunday, 1 to 4:30 p.m.
Rest of the year: Thursday, Friday, and Sunday, 1 to 4:30 p.m.
