MISSION:
To promote the history of the town and region of Asbestos; interest people in the events of the past; encourage the conservation of manuscipts and historic sites and buildings; publish a journal on regional history; support research in regional history; and organize visits of a historic nature.

Archives.

COLLECTIONS:
Local printed and manuscript sources (100 fonds). Local newspapers. Principal collections: Chamber of Commerce Archives; the Johns-Manville Collection; Syndicat de l'Amiante Collection; etc.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
Thematic exhibitions.

PUBLICATIONS:
Society Bulletin (free to members).
La Grève de l'amiante [The Asbestos Strike] (1999): $1.50.

BUSINESS HOURS:
September-June: Wednesday, 2 to 4:30 p.m.

ENTRY FEES / MEMBERSHIP:
Annual membership: $5.00.
Research fee: $15.00/hour.
Research is free for members.
