MISSION:
To promote the history of the Coaticook region.
PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION:
Archives (3rd floor of the old post office building).
COLLECTIONS:
Photographs, including 23,000 from the newspaper Le Progrès
de Coaticook; newspapers (20 bound albums of l'Étoile
de l'Est and the Coaticook Observer, from 1927-1937,
donated by the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke); books on the history
of Coaticook and area; periodicals on history, heritage, genealogy;
maps.
SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
Developing a multi-disciplinary archive of local and regional history,
accessible to researchers; conducting and encouraging research on
various topics in the fields of history, genealogy, sociology, heritage,
toponymy, archaeology, economics, and politics. Publishing research.
Organizing conferences and exhibitions. Conserving and restoring
historic documents. Collaborating with the Town of Coaticook, adjacent
municipalities, and public organizations, in decisions relating
to place-names and regional heritage. History panel, which describes
different historic facts each month. Monthly "history lunches,"
with different speakers, and published on the Society website.

Le Courant (since 1999): free.
