DATE FOUNDED:
Early 1990s
MISSION:
To document the history of the village of Georgeville, on the east
shore of Lake Memphremagog.
PHYSICAL
DESCRIPTION:
The Society enjoys a long-term lease on the century-old Quinn building,
in Georgeville, which it uses as an exhibition gallery. It also
manages the Bigelow Garden, a small pioneer-oriented garden featuring
plants of historic significance. Recently, the Society sponsored
the reproduction of a former village landmark, the old watering
trough.
COLLECTIONS:
The Society is currently collecting primary and secondary historical
material, with the goal of developing an archive for the use of
its members.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES:
The Society holds an Annual General Meeting (July), featuring special
guest speakers and discussions on local historic topics. Each summer
(July and August), a public exhibition is held in the Exhibition
Gallery, usually in conjunction with the theme presented at the
General Meeting. The Society also publishes a newsletter, The Georgeville
Enterprise, with articles on local history.
